Royal Distance turn in stellar performances @ Leauge Finals
For many on the San Marcos Track and Field team, Thursday’s (5/2) League Finals marked the end to their 2008 season. For others, the meet acted as the first stepping-stone on the road towards the C.I.F. State Meet. While the junior varsity participants saw their last meet/competition, four senior Royal distance runners qualified to compete in this weekend’s (5/10) C.I.F. Prelims, which are to be held at Moorpark High School. In order to claim a spot for this weeks race(s), participants had to finish in the top three positions in their races. The following seniors qualified in their respected events; Angie Afman (1600m) , Bryn Kass (3200m), Alex Corliss (1600m) and Mark Berquist (3200m) were all smiles as they crossed the finish lines. Both Coach Ince and myself were excited to have our four Royals qualify for this weeks race, but we were really impressed with the distance squad as a whole. Among the two groups, the varsity and junior varsity teams, a lot of great racing was met with a lot of new P.Rs. or season bests. Below are the results from League Finals. F.Y.I.
