Ridgway honored with Phil Womble Award
Mid-distance/distance (she will sometimes race the 1600m) standout junior Kalley Ridgway has recently been awarded the Phil Womble Award at this weeks round table. Harry’s restaurant hosts the lunch time round table, where the local high schools and colleges converge and bring with them their most outstanding athletes. Dave Pintard presented this month’s honoree, as he coached Ms. Ridgway as she played youth softball. Mr. Pintard went on to say, “If we had given a Phil Womble Award at that time, when Kalley was 10, 11 and 12 years old, she would have received it.” Ms. Ridgway has excelled in both Cross Country and Track and Field for the Royals all three of her high school years. She currently is carrying a 4.5 GPA, with a class schedule of entirely Advanced Placement courses. San Marcos’s A.D. Abe Jahadhmy stated that “if all athletes in the world had Kalley’s ethics and understanding of fairness, there would be no need to test for things that take away the level playing field. She is the whole package.”
